Route Du Folk
route Du Folk
Building a European route of folkmusic venues like the old 'Hanze route'
The idea
To create a touring-route through Europe, connecting folk clubs across borders.
To exchange promising or upcoming bands between these clubs and their respective countries.
To help folk artists in setting up a trans-European tour.
To exchange knowledge and experience and put these at the disposal of the artists.
BECOME A PARTNER
Clubs/organisations signing up for this project, agree with the following engagements:
Every partner may submit artist proposals to send on tour along the route. These could be folk musicians from the partner’s own country or international artists planning a European tour.
Partners are free to sign up for the tour of a certain band. There are no obligations to organise a concert for any band they don’t like. However, to be part of the route, it is expected of every partner to book at least 2 bands a year through this network.
At least once a year there will be an official gathering (online or live) with all partners from the Route, to exchange ideas, to talk about experiences and to secure the connection between the clubs.
There will be no membership fee for this network. Membership is obtained by an engagement to the project: proposing, helping and booking artists following the route.
Working together is also creating a base for mutual funding possibilities as Creative Europe programs
Route du Folk is an initiative of 3 Belgian Folk organisations: Music club Dranouter, Merodefestival (Langdorp) and Music Club ‘t Ey (Belsele).
Former en future tours in our 3 clubs in Belgium include Ye Vagabonds (IRL), ESTBEL (EST-BE), Trio Dhoore + Tom Moore & Archie Moss (BE-UK), WHYTE & Hoëla Barbedette (SCO-FR), Marvara (BE-DEN-SW), Ekko + Jacques Stotzem (BE), Trio Tesi, Vaillant Piccioni (IT-FR), The Rheingans sisters (UK) and more.
